Mountain Retreat Guest House
Mountain Retreat Bed and Breakfast is a peaceful place to relax, listen to the birds, watch the wildlife in the meadow, stroll in the gardens, breathe the clean air, meditate in the gazebo, walk/jog the perimeter of the hayfield, workout in the exercise room, drink pure water from our own springfed system, sleep in a luxiously comfortable bed, and enjoy a delicious wholesome breakfast. Mountain Retreat was originally a working hobby farm. The land was purchased, the water system developed and the houses built in the mid seventies by the Scarff/Bristow families. They cleared the land, built the barn and chicken house and began farming in the early eighties. These were the days of self-sufficiency and "back to the land". In 1994, Gwenath Melan and George Mesley renovated the farm house into Mountain Retreat Guest House.
At Mountain Retreat we specialize in luxurious beds. Each bed is outfitted with a featherest mattress, white goose down duvet and pillows and fine European linens. As one guest commented: "That bed! I can't remember ever having such a good sleep!" |

is an elegant Victorian style home set amidst manicured gardens, situated on a 20 acre plateau, surrounded by mountains on three sides and a spectacular view of the city of Castlegar on the south. Our B & B is a secluded nature getaway, yet 5 minutes from urban conveniences, including an airport and a world class golf course.
The ownership of Mountain Retreat Guest House changed hands in May of 2004 and is currently operated by Edeltraud and Rolf Wiepning. Edeltraud and Rolf moved to Castlegar after living in the Ottawa area for the last 18 years. Originally Edeltraud and Rolf are from the Black Forest region in Germany.
